Forest Fire! - A Lesson in Group Collaboration

Your team has traveled to a remote cabin in the Colorado wilderness when suddenly a forest fire threatens its safety. A radio broadcast periodically updates the team on their perilous situation. 

What items in the cabin will prove to be most useful as the fire approaches? An ax? A rubber raft? Emergency rations? Can your team take the heat. or do they lack the team-building skills and spirit of camaraderie to survive the raging inferno?

Forest Fire! is a 2-hour, action-filled simulation that teaches participants the importance of teamwork and invaluable interpersonal skills, such as listening, asserting, and giving and receiving feedback. Developed with the assistance of experts from the National Forest Fire Management Team and Colorado Search and Rescue Services, this realistic exercise illustrates the power of collaboration and consensus building.

The Forest Fire! scoring system enables you to evaluate both team and individual performance. This helps participants reflect on their own behavior in group situations, which translates into more effective and productive teams - a key to your company's success.

Forest Fire! is designed for 10 participants and up to 10 observers (contact us for information on running the simulation for larger groups). The facilitator's guide contains a wealth of information and tips on how to evaluate group dynamics and maximize participation. It also includes a section for organizations that utilize the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI).
